According to many experts, we are about to reach the point of "peak oil" -- the level at which supply can no longer keep up with demand. This, say the doomsayers, could send economies spinning into turmoil and up-end our comfortable, urban lifestyles. But others claim predictions like this are simply scaremongering. They believe supply will match demand for decades to come. So who's telling the truth? 'Peak Oil' investigates.Produced by ABC AustraliaDistributed by Journeyman Pictures

SO it was "bullshit" in the end Today we have enough refineries, we can spill gobs of it today. With no investment to speak of oil did fall .

peak oil is pure myth - there is plenty of energy to fuel the future .. people have been pedaling this crap since the 1970's -- we need another Ronald Reagan to guide us to another 30 years of growth... confidence always beats fear !

I really hate when people say "I'm a big guy so I need a big car". That's sheer bullshit. 1. Lose weight.2. The interior any given SUV isn't that much more roomier than a Cadillac or Buick sedan.

@boxa888 Rubbish..And besides, the problem is cars. Cars are a stupid form of transport. They require large amounts of space to transport few occupants, and resultin either gridlock or urban sprawl with vast distance between locations. Part of the asnwer to peak oil is to reduce the dependence on cars.

@TheTrueHolyDarkness The peak oil theory suggests that they drill the easier to reach oil first, thats why. There is to few oil fields on land to meet demand.

@unloads - Oh yea because as we can see from the Gulf it is extremely easy and very cost effective.
